Step 1: Add Content

Choose your import method:

  • Paste Text: Simply paste any text directly into the textarea. Perfect for copying content from articles, books, or any digital source.
  • Paste Article URL: Enter a web address of a news article or blog post. The app will extract the main content automatically (works best with simpler layouts, may not work with paywalls).
  • Upload File: Upload .txt, .pdf, .epub, or .docx files from your computer. Text extraction quality varies by file structure.
  • Load from Library: Access previously saved content from your personal library.

Choose your mode:

Translation Mode

Full translation capabilities with smart processing:

  • Free users: 5,000 words per day limit
  • Processing speed: 5,000 words every 60 seconds
  • Process large content progressively in chunks
  • Can translate entire books in minutes!

Read-Only Mode

Lightning-fast processing with unlimited access:

  • Unlimited free access - no daily limits
  • Blazing fast: 100,000 words in 30 seconds or less
  • Perfect for entire books and large documents
  • Full word click translations and vocabulary additions

Language Selection:

Source Language: Can be set to auto-detect to automatically identify the text language, or manually selected.

For Read-Only Mode: Choose your vocabulary language for word click translations. If the source is your learning language, set vocabulary language to your native language.

For Translation Mode: MyLang supports two-way learning! If your source text is in your learning language, translate to your native language. If your source text is in your native language, translate to your target language - dramatically expanding available content!

Step 2: Reading Mode

With content loaded in the reader, customize your reading experience and interact with the text.

Reading Customization:

  • Font Settings: Adjust font size, family, and text styling for comfortable reading
  • Theme Options: Choose from various background and text color combinations

Interactive Features:

  • Word Click Translation: Click any word to see its translation between your selected language pairs
  • Audio Playback: Listen to word pronunciations in both languages using the sound button
  • Vocabulary Building: Add words to your learning vocabulary list or known words list

Translation Mode Features:

  • Language Toggle: Instantly switch the entire text between both languages
  • Dual Reader Mode: View text broken down line by line with both languages displayed simultaneously

Smart Highlighting:

  • New Words: Highlight unfamiliar words to quickly identify learning opportunities
  • Vocabulary Words: Highlight words from your learning lists to track your progress

Step 3: Practice Mode

Words added to your learning list automatically enter the spaced repetition system for effective memorization.

Spaced Repetition System:

  • Familiarity Ranking: Each word gets a familiarity score that adapts based on your performance
  • Anki Algorithm: Uses proven spaced repetition timing based on Anki's algorithm
  • Automatic Scheduling: Words appear for review at optimal intervals for long-term retention

Manage Decks

Create specific study decks to organize your vocabulary by topic, difficulty, or learning goals.

Flashcard Practice

Study from individual decks or review all available cards with customizable spaced repetition settings.

Anki Export

Prefer Anki? Export your vocabulary list in flashcard format directly from the vocabulary page.

User Accounts & Data Sync

Creating an account enables cloud synchronization of your vocabulary, known words, and reading progress across all devices. Without an account, data is saved locally to your current browser only.
